By Tess Tennessee Miller
In this workshop by American artist Tess Tennessee Miller, we was looked at all the different shapes and techniques that have been developed in murals and graffiti over the years. In doing so, looking at developments and doing it yourself go hand in hand. Based on examples, the participants got to work themselves.
With Tess they looked at the visual language of different forms of graffiti. Hip Hop or Pop Art graffiti. South American artists such as Os Gemeos, Tikks and Nunca were also featured. At the same time, the participants learned to work themselves in the different techniques that are available to set up murals. Free drawing, but also stencil and masking technique. The students learned how to bring movement into the image and convey a message in their work.
Also by looking at the technique of implementation. Rollers, spraying, air-brush, blocks, outlining and so on.
The result was a street full of Murals near Aruba Harbor.
