“Self-portrait versus the mask” was the title that Erik Alkema gave his workshop.
Because each work of art is in one way or another a portrait of its maker, the self-portrait in this workshop was the guiding principle for an adventurous journey through different dimensions (2D, 3D, 4D) and different media.
By transcending the classic idea of the self-portrait and by exploring the possibilities of this 'one way or another', the self-portrait became the catalyst to find out what the participant as an artist has to say and what she / he wants the work about.
All this eventually resulted in an exhibition in which the participants presented their "self-portrait" or "mask".
