Je bent van harte uitgenodigd voor de workshop mode!
We gaan iets nieuws doen! We gaan geen outfits maken maar ons richten op de andere elementen van mode, de omgeving en de presentatie. We gaan het hebben over waarde toekennen aan een outfit, object of mens.
Wat doet een bepaalde achtergrond, “backdrop”, met wat je laat zien. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan de videoclip van Beyoncé:“ APESHIT”. De clip werd opgenomen in het Louvre in Parijs. Wat geeft ze daarmee aan? Is het Louvre het hoogst haalbare?
Wat vinden we zelf waardevol? Aan de hand van deze vragen begeleid ik jullie als deelnemers bij een onderzoek dat zal leiden tot het maken “backdrops”; achtergronden waardoor een dierbaar of belangrijk object de ultieme omgeving krijgt. Zo maken we een compositie die we vervolgens fotograferen.

Korte bio
Ik ben Bodil Ouédraogo, geboren en getogen in Amsterdam en werk als beeldend kunstenaar. Ik focus mij op de art of dressing up.
Ik onderzoek het dragen binnen Zwarte cultuur. Elk onderzoek leidt tot een steeds vollediger beeld van de trots die dressing up binnen Zwarte cultuur kan uitstralen. Ik zie dit als een duurzame vorm van verhalen vertellen die voortkomt uit onderzoek naar de kunst van het dragen en uitdragen binnen Zwarte cultuur.
Tijdens familie en studiereizen in Burkina-Faso werd ik er keer op keer aan herinnerd dat een mens nooit alleen is, maar volledig verbonden is met de mensen en wereld om zich heen. Het geheel is helend. Deze visie op identiteit als volledig verbonden aan en gedragen door je geschiedenis is de basis van mijn werk. Daar weef ik design, dans, film, fotografie en sculptuur tot installaties rondom mode.

You are cordially invited to the fashion workshop!
We're going to do something new! We are not going to make outfits but focus on the other elements of fashion, the environment and the presentation. We are going to talk about assigning value to an outfit, object or person.
What does a certain background, “backdrop”, do with what you show. Consider, for example, Beyoncé's video clip: “APESHIT”. The clip was shot at the Louvre in Paris. What does she indicate by this? Is the Louvre the highest possible achievement?
What do we find valuable? Based on these questions, I will guide you as participants in a process that will lead to the creation of “backdrops”; backgrounds that give a precious or important object the ultimate environment. In this way we create a composition that we then photograph.

Short bio
I am Bodil Ouédraogo, born and raised in Amsterdam and work as a visual artist. I focus on the art of dressing up.
I explore wearing within Black culture. Each investigation leads to an increasingly complete picture of the pride that dressing up within Black culture can radiate. I see this as a sustainable form of storytelling that comes from research into the art of wearing and expressing within Black culture.
During family and study trips to Burkina-Faso, I was reminded again and again that a person is never alone, but fully connected to the people and world around them. The whole is healing. This view of identity as fully connected to and supported by your history is the basis of my work. There I weave design, dance, film, photography and sculpture into installations around fashion.
